I don't think there's anything magical going on here. I mean, this is, you know, can largely be explained via cultural evolutionary processes by which people observe and copy what successful people do for whatever reason. And so in that way, these strange taboos can evolve even if nobody has any conscious understanding of them. It's no more mysterious than how an eye could evolve through biological evolution, really. So does that answer the question?
