The Warburg effect is the continued use of fermentation with lactic acid production in the presence of oxygen. Glucose is a facilitator of tumor growth if you were to have cancer. Cancer cells have defects in that organelle leading to a fermentation. When the fermentation replaces the use of oxygen, the cell loses its growth control and grows dysregulated.
