The Importance of Standard Ground Laws
I think there is a vast misunderstanding of what these laws do and do not mean. I want to believe that it's going to pass. You can only use lethal force, shoot a weapon if you have a reasonable belief that somebody is about to kill or maim you or somebody else. And a basketball or pulling into a driveway or pulling open a screen door does not get you there. Why was Trayvon Martin's shooter not convicted? So well, that was based on the totality of those circumstances,. But you're right. That's a great example where standard ground law makes no difference.
