The Importance of Metaphor in Language

Nietzsche could have thought that eternal recurrence was a metaphysical principle without believing it was literally true. But if you describe it as recollection, I don't think it's to be taken with it. The philosophical treatise and the myth are two different ways of doing the same thing. One may be more or less successful but we shouldn't mistake the treatise part for truth in this dialogue.
