In a place like toronto, it's extremely common for a t ms to basically have card readers on them that can scam you out of your money. The best piece of advice is just to use a card that has an amount of money that would obviously suck if you lost it, but not your whole savings account. One thing i always do with atms, and i don't know if this protects against card readers. But i always put my hand over the pin pad when i'm entering it. Maybe that doesn't actually protect you, but that's something that i always do as well.
