Herb Carnegie: A Black Star in the NHL

Bill Riley made his NHL debut in 1974 but was sent back down to the minors. He excelled so much that coach Larry Mickey, he did not want to lose him. Bill remembers running into Jean Belavaux one day who said Herb Carnegie was better than him. It would be many decades before there was a bona fide black star in the NHL.
