Putin understood that he can do anything because Obama and America will not react. If you remember, French President Francois Hollande was ready to go against Bashar al-Assad and was absolutely let down by Barack Obama 24 hours before the scheduled operation. Putin is thriving on this very Middle East in order to pursue his own goals in Europe. It starts in Damascus and goes on in Crimea and of course in Dombas with the undeclared war going on for nine years.
