What Happens When World War I Starts?
The outbreak of the first World War is an enormous shock to this world economy. After the war, there's a concerted effort to reconstruct the world economy as it had existed before the First World War. The logistical complexities of this extraordinarily large, costly, and resource-intensive war actually lead to the creation of the first real powerful intergovernmental economic institution.
