Jonestown was going to fail the moment jim jones moved a thousand people on to a piece of land that would only have sustainably supported a few hundred at most. Jonestown wouldn't have been a proper communist utopia without one major thing: unless its leaders blamed everything that went wrong on enemy, infiltraters and famines under mau and stalin. It's a recipe for permanently accelerating paranoia when you have an inborn flaws mean that there will always be failures. And the people in charge can only interpret those failures as the result of attacks by enemies or saboteurs. Of greed respite. But who are the wreckers? Who are the saboteurs
