The Romans and Arminius
Rome has a bunch of legions in the area, but much of them are moved over to the balkans tor de a rebellion. The story that is told is that he starts fermenting all the auxiliaries and the people that are sympathetic to the cause of kicking the romans out to come together. Arminius basically uses his position within the army to convince verus to go into a forested area,. They don't like the german landscape very much at all; they don't like forests.
