Is There a Difference Between Savoir and Connoissance?

In german write there two different words for that, vissen, knowing that, and kennin, which is like acquaintance. And so yes, both in design and for it, the state of being is always in some way familiar. Do any of you know if either descartes or, i french existentialism make a similarly big deal about the diffe between savoir and connoissance? I think pascal does make a big deal of that rant. This sounds like exactly the same kind of thing. It makes me want to go look at descarte.
