The History of the Indian National Congress
In the late 19th century, politics in India was almost none existent. The Indian National Congress was intended to be a political party for all Indians. But as things turned out, it was mostly a Hindu affair from the very beginning. There were some Muslims like Sir Sayyid Ahmed Khan who disagreed with this idea and felt that political involvement was absolutely crucial. This became evident with the partition of Bengal which would test the strength of Muslim political influence in India.
