The Samaritan Temple
Mount Gerazim is near the ancient Israelite city of Shechem. It lay in the territory of the northern tribe of Manasseh, about 53 kilometres north of Jerusalem. The temple's existence was not confirmed by archaeologists until the late 20th century. Best guess is that it was constructed in the Middle Persian period, perhaps 450 BC.
