"There was a lot of charity, but there was an undertone of elitism and a white saviour complex," he says. "Because you're surrounded by different religions all the time, you're forced to identify with how Mormonism fits into world religions" He adds that living back East 'diluted' his church experience because many of his friends weren't Mormon as a convert. The One Truth Church never really sat well with him - it feels very Lord of the Rings in terms of being able to see universals within other religious traditions.
