Is the Transition to Renewables Going to Last?

In the short term, some countries may roll back on their commitments to phase out fossil fuels. But is that a trend that will stick around for the long term? I mean it seems to be utterly clear that we need to basically try to provide energy at an affordable price at the amount that people want. The great thing about renewables is other than the fact that it's low carbon and it's now cheap. It's made on your own doorstep. So therefore it's politically quite appealing.
