The Story of Mungal Park

Mungal Park set sail on his schooner with four soldiers, including Lieutenant Martin, and three slaves in 1805. He would never be seen again, at least by any European. In 1806, vague reports brought by traders began to trickle out of the interior of Africa, that Park and his companions had perished. The British Governor of Senegal hired Park's old guide, Isaac O, to go find out what exactly had happened to Park. Here was a man who nearly reached Timbuktu without firing a single shot; now he was blasting down the Niger.
