The Road to Serfdom for Hayek
In Hayek's view of democracy, you'll never pass the rocks. The crisis in a sense is never passed, because the sweet music of Social Security will always be there tempting the electorate and ultimately the ship of state to ruin. And ruin for Hayek means debt and inflation and increasing government control and ultimately the road to serfdom.
