The Rise of the Mortgage Industry
Loan-to-deposit ratios are 71% today for the industry, up from 60 at the bottom. That compares to a long-term average since the early 70s of 82%. I don't think the leverage in the industry has anywhere near where it used to be. The volatility is very high today, but it does work both ways.
