Is Primary Fusion the Answer to a Liz Frank Injury?

For what you're just talking about a purely ligamentous Liz Frank injury, you would treat these with actually a primary fusion. Usually solitary metatarsal fracture is treated nonoperatively. But when you are looking at a four foot injury and you have multiple metatarsal fractures, you may consider fixing those to recreate the anatomic four foot open fractures. And then any sort of border fractures, first and fifth metatarsal fractured are probably ones that you're going to want to fix in a stable fashion so that you recreate the true boundaries of the foot.
