What's the Difference Between the Chemex and the Melita?

The Chemex and the Melita were both introduced in 2004. The timing was important because coffee really went through a big change around that time. I think people credit Starbucks and some of the other kind of like big coffee chains in the 90s for at least in the US market making a big shift to getting American consumers to think about coffee in a different way. And so to have this device that popped up around the same time seems like there was a relationship between those two things that they kind of synergistically grew in popularity together. It does feel it feels like that was a really long time ago but it really wasn't like 2004.
