Is the Office of Financial Research Really a Data Resource?
In the U.S., we have this federal agency that has the mandate already of maintaining and organizing financial risk data. I think in the Biden administration, as they get more serious about climate risk, I think the office of financial research becomes a central point for how all the metadata get organized. So it's sort of convoluted stuff, but we have the mechanisms, we have the tools. And especially now, again, using the idea that the Fed joining the network for creating the financial system as a linchpin, I think that could be the trigger that starts the real process in motion.
