The Battle of the Dunkirk

The british commonwealth was on the verge of becoming permanent when oliver cromwell died in 16 58. The lord protector slipped into the terminal phase of his illness just as august turned to september 16 58. He still had not done so publicly, but Privately he pointed to his eldest son, richard, as his successor. But even that was only reported second hand by the men who stood by his death bed.
