A false memory is when we accidentally think something we imagined really happened and misattribute it as a memory. Our brains are powerful and this is why things like visualization and mantras can work. Think about your success and what you would be like in five years or a year or six months from now if everything goes the way you think it would. When you believe it, that could make future selling easier. We can also distort our memories via source confusion. If we don't properly remember our episodic memories and confuse them with other sources, the result is a memory that has been distorted. It's important to always go back and check sources before turning in academic papers and putting podcasts on the air
