Chris Brown did have abuse in his childhood. He said he describes lying in bed listening to his stepfather beat his mother. One reason that maybe the media has sort of let him off lightly is because Rihanna has thrived in the face of all of this. If she had gone through this and then told like not being able to come back, which she shouldn't have even had to do, then the media I think would keep harping on about how Chris Brown ruined Rihanna.
