Horace's relationship wih brutus glamorizes it and gives it a so of contour. His earlie life thatn like nothing else. But his background allowed him to say, look how far i've come. Look how well i've done, loo, asided from where i've got to. Apter, he never said it, except he seems to have done once or twice. If ndef horace hasn't been a poet, i think he would be a very interesting figure for a social historian.
