The Benefits of a Boutie for Endotracheal Intubation

The bougie is a long, thin, flexible tube that is specially designed to enable a luringoscope operator to cannulate the vocal cords. An endotracheal tube is not designed to be easy to intubate with. It's designed to be an effective conduit of air from the ventilator tubing to the trachea. If you are skilled with a bougie, you can intubate views that cannot be done with a stylates-only grade-three view.
