How Much Does Language Affect Us?
Sire: I've always speculated on the rule that language plays in shaping a society. For example, it strikes me that one of the reasons that i like japanese literature so much is that my aesthetic preference is to minimalism. And when you look at urdu poetry, for example, it is just the opposite. It's very sensuous and, you know, flored an all of ta. If you translate a poem that i appear beautiful in urdu to english, you'll fail on that test of values alone. So in the context of sire, how much does the nature of these languages affect the people?
