The Harshness of Borders

In 1971 there was 41 pages of immigration legislation and now there's 3,000. Even people that work within immigration law can't get their heads around the home office. I think all immigration regimes increasingly make people temporary. It's very hard to switch statuses. The constraints on you which police that you are a student only working 20 hours or if you leave your relationship, you can be deported. So it's about forms of surveillance, new forms of disentilement,. they should mean we have an opportunity because systems such as this are not particularly efficient.
