Humans discovered viruses before we had the necessary like microscopes and technology to actually see them. Louis pastour suspected that there was something smaller than bacteria causing rabees, but he didn't know what it was. Years later, scientists studying disease in tobacco plants also deduced that there wasSomething dangerous they couldn't see. They took extracts from infected leaves and put the liquid through a filter small enough to capture bacteria. The original term for infectious or bad fluid is where the word virus comes from.
