People who might be called radicals are finding audiences much more receptive because of had desperation. You already have people like lucy parsons, de boyce and hubert harrison me openly critical of capitalism. But now you also have artists like mckay langton hughes,. paul robeson, people like louise thompson patterson. I mean, they're all making the case for america to achieve democracy, power and resources are going to have to be changed in fundamental ways.

The Great Depression presented a crisis not only for the U.S. economy, but for American democracy. President Franklin Roosevelt wanted to save the nation’s system of government, and its economic system, while reforming both. What did the New Deal achieve, and not achieve?
