Espercivo: Yevtushenko's Lament
Scholstachovich's "Espercivo" is a lament, one that began raspily at the beginning of the piece. As Yevtushenko changes his lens from the political to the personal to the universal, ScholStachovich does the same. For the final verse we return to Babi Yar, and these past atrocities are tied to this massacre which still had no memorial.
