Whiplash is one of the best first director movies ever. What do we learn about JK Simmons just stumbling into this incredible iconic part or the cruel daddy genre? I would have thrown in Duval in the great Santini, which I think is probably the best cruel daddy thing. Whiplash rated R. Now playing select cities coming soon to a theater near you.
