I don't think it's possible to give a simple answer because the circumstances vary so much. I wrote a book last year on precisely this thing. It's called the gift of the ab, right? How eloquence works. And what you see is that eloquent standards do vary enormously from generation to generation and indeed from circumstance to circumstance or sometimes even from individual to individual. So long as it, again, isn't overused, as long as it doesn't get in the way of communication, there are some people who are not eloquent.
