Did Simon Megas Really Write Anything?
Simon magus wrote the great declaration, a refutation of all heresies. The text is taken from hippolytus who quotes it and then writes commentary. It's an incredibly esoteric interpretation of genesis,. But again, it just smacks as something a cabalist could have written centuries later. According to scholar karl lucker, he believes that the the great declaration is a heliopolitan. And because of these various ideas that you find in the text and so forth., simon megas was depicted by other church fathers as gnostic.
