In our first forty years, we had six presidents, four from virginia. Good thing for you, we didn't have an anti trust law. In the nineteenth century, the anti slavery movement really rose to gain traction. By the opening shots at fort sumter, ironically, many of the formerly disparaged emigrants found themselves in places like new york city promoting sedition against the national government. Sound familiar? So presidents had to deal with it. They came to a head in the civil war, and thank god abraham lincoln won. Heended slavery, preserved the union, vindicated government of by and for the people With a dramatically enlarged conception of who the people were.
