Stoicism was the inspiration, to a large extent, for early christian ethics. The term stoic now means unemotional when we rate id with the lower case s. It's commonly used as a term to denote a toxic, maladaptive ways of emotional coping. But that's no way ancient stoicism means. In fact, ancient stoicism is the inspiration for cognitive therapy - which there are huge volumes of research showing itis good for us. A lot of people misconstrue cism and turn it into something that's almost the complete opposite.
