The Great Smog

The great smog of 19 52 was caused by pollution from burning fossil fuels. Between 10 and 12 thousand people lost their lives due to the thick, toxic fog that lasted for four days. The effects of rising c o two levels on global warming were still debated at the time. There were even fears that the earth may actually cool and there was concern over a future ice age. But in reality, schneider's paper was still a minority and there were far more studies to support global warming.
