Lady Mary's Contribution to the History of Smallpox

George washington was mandating inoculation for smallpox for his troops. He himself had had small pox as a small child and had gotten over it the regular way, so it wasn't really his task to go through. But nevertheless, he he saw the writing on the wall and knew it was the right thing to do. And we talked about this during the abigail adams episode of this very podcast.
