The Paradox of High Expectation and High Regard in Simulation

I think it's a required piece of any simulation. I honestly think if you're not putting people at a level that is their zone of proximal development at the edge of their expertise, then it's arguably a little bit of a waste of time. But in some of the other work that we've done, if you don't have that, this is potentially very harmful. And each year we get some new registrars who arrive, who have trained elsewhere, and they are frightened of coming to simulation because of the humiliating experiences they have had in other centers. So I actually think we've got a responsibility for all our simulation and probably in the workplace as well to really pay attention to
