The group were becoming increasingly undisciplined in the studio. George martin decided he wasn't needed for a while and went on holiday, leaving jeff emerick in charge of the sessions as defacto producer. The group even started one track without any of their normal production team. Increasingly there were booking sessions outside abbey road, just to break the routine.
