The Difference Between Lead Time and Cycle Time
The word lead time means like 50 different things from people. So in the little's law, what does it mean? Good question. Well, if you read Dr. Little's original white paper, he doesn't mention the word lead time. He talks about cycle time. The amount of time something takes really until it exits the system. That's a lead time and there may be in little cycles in the middle, but you're right. It's all averages.
