Did Cubans Work to Achieve Independence From Spain?

In the late eighteenth century, we start to see all sorts of revolutions and movements for colonial independence erupt in the caribbean. Spain didn't really want to help the american revolutionaries because they worried what kind of precedent it would set for their own colonies. Cuba was already a society with slaves but wasn't a major slaveholding or sugar colony. By the 18 twenties, cuba is the largest producer of sugar in the world. It's one of the major destinations of african captives. The hatian revolution changes the course in the sense of cuba history.
