Rishi Sunak has struck a deal to reduce the number of checks on goods moving from Great Britain to Northern Ireland. This is consistent with Northern Ireland remaining part of the European single market, but Great Britain being out in the single market. Most parts of Westminster think that this is as good a deal as you can get to reduce theNumber of checks ongoods going from Great Britainto Northern Ireland. The biggest unionist party, the democratic unionists, are still not quite sure whether they like this deal and some Tory backbenchers also say we don't like the factNorthern Ireland has been treated differently from the rest of the UK. But overall it's been positively received.
