The Shame Performance Culture

This idea of competition goes into every crevice and kind of different identity you could have. We're told we live in a culture of freedom, but actually what we're experiencing is an exhaustion of a kind of self-oppression. And just as we go back to the ancient Greek society of the stage being everywhere, we return to a kind of ancient culture of shame. Because of shame, because of shame getting into the social system, worse stuff begins to happen.
