Minecraft is an amazing case study and so many things where what's been able to be done with that is really enlightening. I am, you know, it's hard to compare and compete with something like Fortnite which also has enormous amounts of creativity - even though it was not designed originally as a general purpose sort of thing. Me personally, I would have bet on trying to do entertainment valuable destination first and expanding from there.

John Carmack is a legendary programmer, co-founder of id Software, and lead programmer of many revolutionary video games including Wolfenstein 3D, Doom, Quake, and the Commander Keen series.
