The Importance of Targeted Advertising on Facebook
Mark Zuckerberg famously declared in an interview that privacy was dead. He would definitely want privacy to be dead because the more information shared with Facebook, the more effectively Facebook can monetize that information. The negative reaction prompted Facebook to pretty quickly kill Beacon. But users were now wary that Facebook wasn't gonna be super duper vigilant when it comes to protecting user privacy.
