Cloud Seeding
Dry ice and silver iodide were used as cloud seeding devices in the early nuclear age. The idea was to trick clouds into thinking there was already ice there. When you get up to a freezing level, you're going to have a stronger precipitate. It's still playing with convection because one of the early papers on this was called chain reactions in cumulus clouds.
