"I talk about it with my mom a lot because she was 21 in 1955 and worked at a radio station," he says. "It always strikes me incredible that rock and roll from the very beginning she felt was too young." Brubeck's quartet had real chops, but they were like nice, well-behaved white boy,. A lot of college students would listen to Dave Brubeck even if maybe they wouldn't buy a Miles Davis record.
