How the Human Genom Project Got Started

In the course of the human genom project, we also ended up with a collaborative community growing up here in boston. And that's how this broad institute got born. It wasn't willed into existence. It's this thing that grew. Now it only worked because when i wento t and harvard and said, we should build this joint community to do this. I don't know that you could do this i any place else. The a priori probability of everything falling together was vanishingly small.
