In 19 97, when he came back to apple after 12 years away, he wanted to show his critics that he was a better leader. When he ran apple back in the eighties, he was deeply involved on the manufacturing side of the company. He even insisted on painting the machines in the mackintosh factory bright colors. And that didn't work out so well because the paint gummed up the machines. So that's steve jobbs in his first go round as apple's leader.
